In July 2009, a (very small) "commando" version of the team under the patronage of the late Gérard Detourbet (Logan program boss) composed of Oskar Dauner (Engineering/co-project Leader), Marie-Laure Piednoir (Engineering), Jean-Marc Deroche (Logan program) and myself (Procurement/co-project Leader) (and a partner supplier - LG Francis(S.K. Kim) presented the ULC project to the EVP committee and revolutionized Renault's approach to multimedia in-car by applying the "Apple concept" of a clean interface from a design-to-cost perspective. For an unbeatable cost, an upgradeable system and the first 7-inch touch screen for any vehicle range with a major business impact. Innovation starts by "thinking out of the box" and breaking certain codes.
